Rolling out manufacturing capability across continents, industries and technologies takes a rare combination of technical depth and programme leadership. Satwik Mehta, HSSMI’s Engineering Director for Operations and Systems, has built a career doing exactly that. With nearly fifteen years in electrification programmes, Satwik has a proven track record planning, implementing and delivering manufacturing solutions across battery, hydrogen and power electronics.

From Volkswagen’s Global Rollout to HSSMI’s Electrification Portfolio

Before joining HSSMI, Satwik held a senior position within the Volkswagen Group, overseeing the group-wide rollout of manufacturing engineering and launch across global sites. That global, multi-programme perspective carries through directly into his work at HSSMI, where he has delivered electrification and digital transformation projects for clients across automotive and aerospace — from startups like Zeroavia, Ceer and HVS to established OEMs like Ford, JLR and Bentley.

A Portfolio Spanning Continents and Technologies

Satwik’s project experience reflects the breadth of his expertise:

    • Active materials and battery cell manufacturing. Satwik has supported lab, scale-up and gigafactory programmes across Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East, covering supply chain, logistics, process engineering and quality including supplier engagement and product change impact studies on line rebalance, layout space saving, ramp-up timelines and financial impact. His work spans AMTE, Agratas, Britishvolt, Envision, Ford, Faradion, SK and LG. For battery active material projects specifically, he has developed Bills of Materials, Process and Equipment, CAPEX/OPEX models and feasibility assessments shaping ramp-up strategy, site requirements, industrialisation plans and NPI process for clients including Nyobolt and two European joint ventures.
    • Automotive and aerospace programme delivery, globally. Over fifteen years and multiple projects, Satwik has led manufacturing engineering and facility planning for greenfield and brownfield programmes within the Volkswagen Group across Asia, Europe and Africa. More recently, he has supported process engineering and industrialisation for H55, Zeroavia, Ceer, HVS and Tevva Motors.
    • Digital strategy execution. Satwik has a strong track record deploying digital infrastructure and enterprise systems — ERP, PLM and MES — for organisations including Ford, Britishvolt and Morrow, building and executing the strategic plans behind them.
    • Technical due diligence. Satwik has delivered technical due diligence for investors across the battery, hydrogen and power electronics sectors, informing investment decisions at critical stages.

A Rare Blend of Depth and Breadth

Satwik holds an MSc in Manufacturing Systems. His core skills span manufacturing engineering for battery, hydrogen and power electronics; digital manufacturing infrastructure and enterprise systems; technical due diligence for large-scale investment; and programme leadership across automotive and aerospace. Few specialists move as fluidly between active materials, digital transformation and global vehicle launch programmes — versatility that today’s fast-moving electrification projects demand.

Why It Matters

Electrification programmes rarely stay within one technology, geography or discipline. Satwik’s experience navigating that complexity — across battery, hydrogen and digital manufacturing — is helping HSSMI’s clients turn ambitious global rollouts into successful, on-the-ground delivery.
