Working at HSSMI | Meet New Starter Jess Lewis
As one of the most recent additions to the HSSMI team, Jess Lewis joined us in May 2022 as a Technical Lead in Logistics. With nearly five years of experience in logistics, working at one the UK’s leading automotive manufacturers, HSSMI is excited to have her on board. At HSSMI, Jess will be supporting our Manufacturing Strategy team and working with our clients to ensure their supply chains and logistics operations are as efficient as they can be.
HSSMI’s Marketing and Communications Officer Zane Mezdreija sat down with Jess to chat about her experience at HSSMI.
ZM: Why did you decide to join HSSMI?
JL: I joined HSSMI to get involved in a wide range of projects with different customers, utilising new and emerging technologies. HSSMI operates with sustainability at its core, this aligned with my values and encouraged me to apply.
ZM: How has HSSMI and your team supported your development? (or how do you expect it to support your development / learning / career?)
JL: Since joining the company, I’ve been fully immersed into the current logistic projects. The team has been great getting me up to speed on the projects and ensuring I have the necessary tools to succeed in the role.
In my first few weeks, I was introduced to all of the teams and directors. This meant that I had a friendly face to reach out to, if I had any queries.
ZM: What do you appreciate most about working at HSSMI?
JL: It’s great to work for a small company, everyone in the team is very approachable and will always give you their time, no matter the position. The company offers a flexible working policy, allowing employees to work from home, in the office and customer sites, I think the balance is great.
ZM: What are your expectations from working at HSSMI?
JL: I expect HSSMI to stay at the forefront of sustainable manufacturing and new technologies; allowing companies to improve their manufacturing capability in an innovative and environmentally-friendly way.
ZM: How can working at HSSMI help your career? How has working at HSSMI helped your career?
JL: My role requires me to interact with customers, so it’s been great to be able to expand my network. Due to the wide range of projects, it will be great to be able to expand my logistics knowledge into new areas while helping customers achieve net zero.
