HSSMI and Arup partner with Scottish Enterprise to Deliver Clean Heat Manufacturing Factsheets

[London, 10/10/24] – HSSMI, a leading UK-based sustainable manufacturing consultancy, is pleased to announce its successful collaboration with Arup, a global engineering and sustainable development consultancy, in securing a contract of services from Scottish Enterprise.
They will work together with Scotland’s national economic development agency after securing the contract to produce a series of informative clean heat manufacturing factsheets, accompanied by detailed infographics, to assist businesses with a base in Scotland in scaling up their manufacturing capabilities.
This initiative is aligned with the Scottish Government’s ambitious targets outlined in the Heat in Buildings Strategy and its consultation on the forthcoming Heat in Buildings Bill. These documents focus on decarbonising Scotland’s building stock and transitioning to clean heating systems, with a target of net-zero emissions by 2045. The clean heat manufacturing factsheets will provide vital insights into scaling up for the significant volume of manufacturing components required to achieve these targets.
The factsheets will serve as a critical resource for companies looking to understand the clean heat market’s evolving demands, including the manufacturing processes, skills, and materials needed to scale up their operations. With Scotland poised to become a key player in the global clean heat economy, this project will empower local businesses to take full advantage of new opportunities and support the country’s green transition.
The collaboration between HSSMI and Arup brings together expertise in design, manufacturing, and innovation, along with specific knowledge in clean heat technologies, to ensure that the resultant factsheets will be both technically sound and practically useful for a wide range of Scottish manufacturers.
“We are thrilled to partner with Arup on this critical project,” said David Stewart, Engineering Director at HSSMI. “With the Scottish Government’s Heat in Buildings Strategy setting such ambitious targets, it is essential that local manufacturers are prepared to meet the increased demand for clean heat technologies. Our factsheets will offer companies the guidance they need to scale up effectively and play a key role in Scotland’s green future.”
Andy Mace, Director at Arup added, “This collaboration represents a significant step in supporting Scotland’s manufacturing sector to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the shift to clean heat. We are excited to leverage our combined expertise to provide companies with the tools they need to succeed in this rapidly growing sector.”
Neil Kitching, Energy Transition Specialist, Clean Heat and Water Technologies at Scottish Enterprise commented: “The manufacturing factsheets are designed to encourage the existing supply chain to scale-up, and to provide information for new entrants and manufacturers in other sectors to consider diversifying into this growing market. Scottish Enterprise can then provide further support to help companies take the next step to market.”
