Having joined HSSMI in 2013, Axel has held a number of senior positions within the company including Chief Technology Officer and Business Strategy Director.
Axel was appointed by the Board late last year and officially began his Executive Directorship on the 1st January 2019. He said “I am excited and honoured to lead such a great team at HSSMI. In the past, HSSMI has shown that it can support companies with their immediate manufacturing engineering needs. At the same time, we help to future proof organisations with up and coming market and technology trends in mind.”
With an Executive MBA from Warwick Business School and a PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Axel has also held positions with Fraunhofer Technology Development Group in Germany, where he was responsible for leading the team ‘Integration of Electronic Systems’. He joined HSSMI from Loughborough University, where he was a member of the Manufacturing Systems Integration Group.
Axel has extensive experience of delivering multi-million-pound research and innovation programmes for HSSMI’s industrial partners, largely within the automotive industry.
David Anderson, Chairman, Board of Trustees, HSSMI Ltd said “Axel is without doubt the ideal person to lead HSSMI through the next stages of its development and to take the company to even greater success in the future.”
With 62 employees across three regions, and ambitious growth plans, Axel will be spearheading the organisations development and ensuring that the business remains at the forefront of manufacturing.
